Baby Madelyn is a little stinker!

This morning I went in for my ultra sound to verify the baby's breech position for the c-section. As soon as the technician put the monitor on my stomach she said, "Well, the head is down." I was in shock! I have been agonizing over this for weeks now. Very quickly I went from mad to extremely happy. I really was not excited about major abdominal surgery. I was ready to do what was necessary, but it still was not my preference. Nevertheless, it is no longer an issue. Now I just get to wait, like all other first time mommys, for that blessed baby to decide she wants to come out into the real world. After seeing her current weight at 6 pounds, 7 ounces, I am hoping for that day to be sooner rather than later. This baby could be huge! But she is so adorable I don't care.

Here is her cute little profile:

This is Josh's favorite picture of her. He put it on his phone and I am pretty sure he showing the entire world he thought she was so cute.

This is my favorite picture of her from today's "photo shoot". Precious!

Fun Stuff!!

So for a couple of weeks my pregnancy calendar has said that the dad should be able to feel the baby. Unfortunately my baby's daddy falls asleep when he gets home waiting for the baby to kick. So the whole process of having him feel her has been very frustrating to me.

Typically we would be sitting on the couch after dinner and she would start to do whatever it is she does. I would grab Josh's hand. She would stop moving. Then, after about five minutes, it would be like a miniature explosion just occurred in my belly following by some rolling movements. I would say, "Did you feel that?", turn around, and Josh would be sleeping. I tried not to take it personally, but I really started to think he didn't care about feeling her. I seriously sat there for hours when I first started feeling her with my hands on my belly. I just thought it was the coolest. Apparently this does not translate to men. However, this week we have had a major breakthrough in this area. Josh can feel her and, as of tonight, see her moving!!!

We were sitting in bed on Monday and he was wide awake watching Sports Center. Note to men: if you are awake enough to annoy your wife by watching ESPN in bed, you are awake enough to wait five minutes to feel your unborn child. Anyway, Madelyn started moving like a mad woman. So I reached over and grabbed Josh's hand. I told him I was going to wait until he said he felt something (versus me saying "did you feel that" a million times and him saying "no"). After about two seconds he said, "I felt that." It was one of the happiest moments of my life, and his! Ever since he figured out he can actually feel her, he has been putting his hands on my belly every night. Usually after I eat is the best. I lay back on the couch and she goes to town from all the calories she has just ingested. It is really fun to see him feel her. Not so fun on the bladder I have decided.

So then tonight we were watching LOST and she was moving again. Maybe it was because LOST was so tense, but very night her movement gets more and more violent. Since Josh had Belle on his lap (very typical during TV watching in our house) it was hard for him to reach my belly. So I just kept my shirt up exposing my belly (again very typical during TV watching in our house because all my PJ shirts are too small) and all of a sudden I saw my belly do the wave. I turned to Josh and said that I think I can see her moving. So we watched as my belly was popping in and out, from side to side. So cool!! I hadn't even seen that before. I think because I was wearing black pants it was really distinct against the embarrassingly white stomach.

All that to say, we are moving forward with a healthy, and active bun in the oven. Fun stuff!!

Added Music

Thanks to my good friend Jenn, I learned how to add music to the blog.  When I saw that you could do that (I am certainly still learning how to do this blog thing) I immediately thought of these two songs.  The first song was brought to my attention by Josh, even before we knew we were having a girl.  Then we heard it on the radio yesterday and I just looked at Josh.  I knew he was on the verge of tears.  He just looked at me and said, "This is just going to get worse isn't it."  I knew what he meant and I just thought it was so sweet.  He still says good bye to his "girls" every morning and talks to Madelyn every night when he gets home.  The other song is one of my all time favorites.  You really can't go wrong with Stevie!  I just can't wait to sing it to her.

We're Having a GIRL!!!

A 3D shot of our baby girl.

After a much anticipated wait, Josh and I found out that we are going to be proud parents of a beautiful baby girl. Before today everyone kept asking us what we wanted. I can say without even a hint of a lie that we both really didn't care. All we wanted was a child who was healthy and happy (followed the Lord, never talked back, smiled, hugged us everyday even if they were a teenager, cleaned their room, brushed their teeth, harbored many talents, got straight A's, hung out with the right crowd, went to college, married a nice person, and had beautiful babies of their own). You know, normal things. :o) Anyway, when we saw it was a girl Josh cracked me up. We were watching the ultra sound on the flat screen and Josh literally stood up and said, "I think I see that it is a girl." The technician confirmed that suspecion and after a little cry from the two of us Josh said, "What am I going to do when she is in high school?" True story, but still not my first thought. Anyway, it has been an emotional day and I am finally exhausted after not really sleeping all week. Plus my stomach really is sore after such a difficult ultra sound. Our daughter is quite the mover. It took over an hour to get all the shots the doctors needed, not to mention I wanted a profile shot that she certainly did not want to give. And don't even get me started on finding those three little lines. I swear I was in four different positions before the end of it. She must be shy, or stubborn... Anyway, enjoy the great pictures. I can't wait to meet her!

Another 3D shot of her face. They are a little weird I know. But they are also super cool!

This is the profile shot we waited so long for. You can see her tiny white nose on the right and her bulging belly (like mommy) on the left.

This one is cool, but harder to see. She is actually yawning. She did this the entire time. I wasn't aware that we were boring her already. Anyway, the arrow is pointing to her nose and right under that is her cute little yawn.

And here is our little thumb sucker. Yay! You can see her fingertips in white, right below her nose located pretty much right in the middle.

This one is creepy. I can even admit it. But it is of her eye ball and rib cage. Nice to know she has them developed, but strange pic.

And here is a close up (which she was definitely not ready for). Her little lips are parted just slightly, sucking in all that amniotic fluid I guess. I can't wait to kiss those tiny little lips!!!

I love this little foot shot. Adorable!

Here is her leg. Let's pray she has daddy's legs and not mommy's thunder thighs.

And of course my daughter is a cool chick. She flashed Grandpa Greg the peace sign (taking him back to his Grateful Dead days I guess.)

And last but not least, the evidence. Those three little lines that make up the you know what. You can also see her knobby knee on top and thigh bone on bottom.

I can't wait to clothe that little patooty in ruffly butt pants and super girly dresses!!
